The Deschutes River in Central Oregon provides one of the best places on earth for catching trout and steelhead on a fly. Catching fish on this river takes a combination of the right gear, and knowing where the fish are.  My friend Jake has both.

Sunday, July 8, 2000 I had the privilege of going fishing with a guy who's been fishing the River for 25 years.  This was the maiden voyage of the "Cloud Nine II".

The weather and river conditions were perfect.

It was right about here I caught my first fish on my first cast!
Thanks Jake!

Jake's big catch of the day!  Immediately after this picture was taken, this big boy was released back in to the river.

The Deschutes is a 'high desert' river with crystal clear water and high canyon wall on both sides.  Just magnificent!

Many thanks to Jake and Jesse for memorable day on the river!
